Khaberni - During the discussion of the 2026 budget project, Captain Zuhair Mohammed Al-Khashman, the leader of the Union of Centrist and National Islamic Parties, opened one of the most sensitive files, the transport sector, stressing that it is supposed to be one of the most important development sectors in Jordan, but the reality is completely the opposite.
Al-Khashman said in his intervention under the dome:
"The transport sector... and it is supposed to be one of the most important development sectors, how can this sector be developed while we suffer from multiple laws and regulations (land/air/maritime/rail)? The legislative fragmentation and the duplication of authorities between the Ministry of Transport, independent authorities, the municipality and the municipalities, and the Aqaba Authority becomes apparent."
He added with a direct critical tone:
"What kind of ministry is this, stripped of its powers like the Ministry of Transport in Jordan?"
Al-Khashman confirmed that the absence of unified authorities and the multiplicity of decision-making bodies have made it impossible to develop this sector as it should, and that fragmentation is the biggest obstacle to any real reform.
Al-Khashman's intervention has put the transport sector back at the core of the national discussion, having provided an accurate description of the reality as stated in the text:
Multiple laws... overlapping authorities... and a ministry without an actual role.
