The incident was disclosed by JD Vance, the Vice President of the United States, during an event held to honor Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone, where he recounted the details of the incident that occurred during a meeting that included him, Trump, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which was meant to discuss a critically important political issue.
According to Vance, Trump abruptly interrupted the discussion, saying, "Hold on a moment, there's something more important.. the shoes," before he began examining the shoes of those present from behind the presidential desk, directing harsh criticism about their appearance, affirming they were "bad shoes."
Vance explained that Trump did not stop there; he left the meeting for a moment and returned carrying a shoe catalog, then proceeded to browse it in front of those present, eventually deciding to gift four pairs of shoes to the officials there.
The official meeting turned into something resembling a shoe fitting session, where Trump asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio about his size, who replied it was 11.5, then asked Vance who responded that his size was 13, before asking a third official, who remained unnamed, who answered that his size was 7, to which Trump jokingly replied: "You can tell a lot about a man by his shoe size."
As soon as the video clip spread on social media platforms, reactions flared up between humor and astonishment, as one user wrote: "It's very funny.. at least they are having fun while discussing important issues," while another described the scene as "the latest trend in comedy in the Oval Office."
