Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara performed Fajr prayers today, the eighth of December, in the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, on the first annual anniversary of the liberation of Syria, where he gave a speech on this occasion expressing the pride that Syrians lived in the first moments of the defeat of injustice and the end of a difficult period the country went through.

Al-Shara emphasized in his speech that the current phase requires the unification of efforts from all nationals to build a strong Syria, cement its stability, protect its sovereignty, and achieve a future worthy of its people’s sacrifices, while praising the sacrifices and heroics demonstrated by the fighters when they entered Damascus victorious, affirming that preserving this victory and building upon it constitutes today’s greatest duty cast upon the shoulders of all Syrians.

Al-Shara said: "Oh Syrians, obey me as long as I obey God in you, by God no one will stand against us no matter how great or mighty, and no obstacles will stand in our way, and together we will face all challenges by the will of God. We will restore a strong Syria with a construction befitting its ancient heritage, and we will rebuild it by obeying God Almighty, supporting the weak, and ensuring justice among people."
