The Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, after his team Monterrey was eliminated by Toluca in the semifinal stage of the Mexican Football League (Apertura), confirmed that this match was his last with the team.

After the Spanish coach Dominic Torrent had earlier indicated that he did not know whether he or Ramos would stay with the team until 2026, the defender now confirmed that his era has ended with Monterrey.

World Cup 2010 champion with Spain stated, "I clearly confirmed it last week. This is definitely my last game."

Regarding Monterrey's elimination, the former Sevilla, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain player admitted that "it's always painful to lose in the semifinals and stay at the doors of the final."

He added after the second-leg match which ended with his team's defeat (3-2) "there is much to analyze. We almost lost the first half. We lacked sharpness, rhythm, personality, and possession".
