Khaberni - The government will conduct the electronic draw to choose the military service assignees for the year 2026 at 5:00 PM today, Monday, in collaboration with the Jordanian Armed Forces.

The Minister of Government Communication, Mohammad Al-Momani, said on the "X" platform: The draw will be broadcast live on local television stations, and young people born in 2007 and their families can follow the details and instructions that will be published through the official channels.

He pointed out that the official platform for the military service program and the mechanism to verify their inclusion in the service will be announced immediately after the end of the electronic draw.

Al-Momani emphasized that the military service would be a station that adds strength and confidence, and grants the youth a national experience they would be proud of.

The council of ministers had previously decided to adopt the duration of military service for a period of 3 months starting from the date of the conscript's enlistment, pursuant to Article 5 of the Military Service and Reserve Service Law.

The decision also included proceeding with the procedures to legally summon the assignees born in the year 2007 and to divide them into groups to be called in batches through the electronic draw.

The decision is part of the preparation and readiness to start implementing the military service program starting from the beginning of February next year, as announced by His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, regarding the reactivation of the military service program.

The Official Gazette published in a special issue, earlier, the amended law of the Military Service and Reserve Service, following its approval by the House of Representatives and the Senate, and it became effective from the date of publication.

The new law introduces significant amendments to the provisions of military service, adding new clauses that specify new conditions and standards for requesting postponement or exemption, and controls regarding residence abroad for those included in the service.

The compelling reasons for the "military service" were to regulate the provisions related to some new legal requirements, to activate and implement the military service program, the acceptable cases for its postponement, and to enable the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army to offer training programs in the armed forces centers and institutes for the assignees, so that the relevant educational institutions can count them as part of the study requirements for university students according to instructions issued by the council of ministers for this purpose, and also to count them as part of the obligations and duties of the military service, along with canceling the provisions that grant prioritize assigned individuals who finish their military service in appointments in ministries, departments, government agencies, and private companies and institutions.

The amended law stipulates that "the General Command shall include the lectures and training programs it deems appropriate in the military service program and its duties for the assignees held at the centers and institutes of the armed forces in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the purpose of counting them as part of university and institute students’ study requirements."

The amended law confirms that the assigned student accepted in official and private institutes and universities; retains his place in case he is called to perform military service.

The Prime Minister, Jafar Hassan, confirmed the commencement of the implementation of the military service program announced by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, starting the beginning of February next year.
