Ramos leaves Mexican Monterrey and looks for a new destination

Khaberni - Spanish star Sergio Ramos confirmed that he will not renew his contract with Mexican Monterrey in 2026 after joining them last February.

Ramos (39 years old), a 2010 World Cup champion and four-time UEFA Champions League winner with Real Madrid, is leaving after his team's exit from the semifinals of the winter tournament in the Mexican League.

The Mexican League, like many Latin American countries, holds two tournaments per year: an opening and a closing tournament.

Ramos said in remarks to Mexican television after the loss to Toluca, “Yes, this is my last game.”

A week ago, the press reported that Ramos decided not to extend his contract with "Rayados", which ends at the end of this month.

Ramos has not disclosed his next step, but press reports suggested that he hopes to return to a European club, aiming to run for participation in the 2026 World Cup with the Spanish national team.

The Spanish defender had signed with Monterrey last February and had played 27 matches with them, scoring six goals, including four matches in the Club World Cup last July, where the team exited in the round of 16 against Borussia Dortmund.
