Khaberni - The Israeli newspaper "Globes" reported from sources that the German logistics company "Lufthansa" has imposed a ban on transporting weapons to Israel, attributing the decision to a British directive to monitor exports.
The German company informed international shipping agents that "according to an internal decision by the company, a ban has been imposed on all military and security shipments to Tel Aviv, effective immediately until further notice." It added, "We will provide you with information as soon as it becomes available."
A spokesperson for Lufthansa Cargo said that "the company is fully committed to all laws and regulations. Following a British directive on export controls and related sanctions, the transportation of military equipment and components to and from Tel Aviv is currently impossible for Lufthansa Cargo, regardless of the flight path. We are working on a solution that will allow individual shipments."
Lufthansa Cargo resumed its full services to Israel on August 1, with 7 weekly flights, after having halted its flights at the beginning of June, and delayed its scheduled return due to the military operation against Iran.
This month, the Lufthansa Group has expanded its activities and increased its weekly flights to Israel from 64 to 74 flights.
Lufthansa operates about 21 weekly flights from Frankfurt, and about 14 flights from Munich, in addition to its subsidiaries, including Austrian Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Brussels Airlines, ITA Airways, Eurowings, and Lufthansa Cargo.
Since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip, the Lufthansa Group has adjusted its flights to the region several times, similar to other airlines.
