Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II attended at the Amman Chamber of Industry today, Sunday, an event that showcased the achievements of the Jordanian industrial sector during the current year, which witnessed continued growth in the export of manufacturing industries.

During the event, which was held by the Amman Chamber of Industry, he presented commemorative shields to a number of institutions, companies, and individuals selected by the Chamber of Industry, in recognition of their efforts in supporting national exports and enhancing their presence in foreign markets.

This year, Jordanian industrial exports exceeded the 5.5 billion dinar barrier, accounting for about 91 percent of the total national exports, and the sector saw significant growth in strategic sub-industries, such as chemical, pharmaceutical, food, engineering, and textile industries.

The event celebrated Jordan's joining of the Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PIC/S) this year, reflecting the commitment of the Public Institution for Food and Drug to the highest standards of quality and pharmaceutical oversight, enhancing the competitiveness of national exports, and opening up new markets for Jordanian medications.

Upon the arrival of His Majesty the King at the Amman Chamber of Industry, he viewed a mural showcasing the journey of the Jordanian industry and listened to an explanation presented by the chamber's director Dr. Nael Al Hassan about the most prominent milestones in the sector's development.

The president of the Chambers of Industry of Jordan and Amman, Engineer Fathi Jaghbeer, stated in his speech during the event that the sector maintained its leading position in the index of the industrial sector's contribution to the gross domestic product at the regional level, with its direct contribution amounting to about 25 percent.

Jaghbeer pointed to the reach of Jordanian exports to more than 150 markets around the world, focusing on non-traditional markets in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and building on His Majesty the King's foreign tours to consolidate trade relations, noting a 39 percent growth in exports over the past four years.

Jaghbeer spoke about efforts to develop the sector through investing in research and development and the use of technology, noting that the Chamber of Industry is working on establishing a company specialized in semiconductor manufacturing, to keep pace with global industrial and technological development.

In turn, the president of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce Khalil Haj Tawfiq said that the Jordanian economy is based on a cohesive fabric of industrial, commercial, service, and agricultural sectors, noting that thanks to this integration, Jordan has managed to turn challenges into opportunities, and prove the credibility and quality of Jordanian products.

He mentioned the ability of the service, industrial, and agricultural sectors to increase exports, based on cooperation between the government and the chambers of commerce, to make Jordan a regional hub for re-export and reconstruction, and to make the Kingdom an export gateway to the region.

He added that the private sector views the economic modernization vision as the first comprehensive national project that brings together the public and private sectors under one umbrella, affirming that the continuity of the vision's success requires continued teamwork.

His Majesty toured an industrial exhibition held with the participation of representatives from Jordanian companies and factories operating in various sectors, and learned about the efforts made to enhance the competitiveness of national products.

His Majesty the King visited the Jordanian Innovation Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (InJo4.0) at the headquarters of the Chamber of Industry, and listened to a briefing from engineer Dana Quda about the center, which aims to accelerate the adoption of digital and technological solutions in the industrial sector to increase productivity and enhance competitiveness.
