Khaberni - The meeting of His Majesty King Abdullah II with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas, focused on ways to strengthen cooperation between Jordan and the European Union, based on the comprehensive and strategic partnership agreement between them.
The meeting, which took place at Basman Palace on Sunday, emphasized the importance of building on available economic opportunities, particularly through the upcoming Jordanian-European summit to be hosted by Amman in January, in addition to a planned joint economic forum next year with participation from investors from both sides.
The meeting also discussed regional developments and the necessity of achieving a comprehensive calming in the region and maintaining the sovereignty of states, emphasizing that the two-state solution is the only way to achieve fair and comprehensive peace.
His Majesty reaffirmed the need to adhere to the terms of the Gaza war termination agreement and ensure the flow of relief assistance, as well as to stop unilateral actions against Palestinians in the West Bank.
The Vice-President of the European Commission emphasized the importance of the European Union's partnership with Jordan and the mutual commitment to deepen cooperation in various fields, highlighting Jordan's pivotal role in the region.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and the Director of His Majesty the King’s Office, Engineer Alaa Batayneh.
