Khaberni - The head of the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Region Authority for Development and Tourism, Dr. Fares Al-Breizat, accompanied by his deputy, the Commissioner of Financial and Administrative Affairs, Dr. Shaker Al-Adwan, and the Commissioner of Infrastructure and Investment, Engineer Mohammad Al-Habahbeh, and a number of relevant directors, inspected today, Sunday, the damages caused by the weather conditions that affected the Petra region yesterday Saturday due to the heavy rains that hit the area.

Al-Breizat confirmed during his field tour in Al-Taybeh then Al-Rajif and Delagha, the authority’s commitment to providing all necessary services to the citizens across different areas of the district and to monitor the projects implemented by contractors throughout the region.

He examined the damages in Al-Taybeh caused by the floods that stormed some houses and closed their entrances, as well as a number of roads, and the damages in Al-Rajif and Delagha.

Al-Breizat stated that in the upcoming phase, specialized tenders will be offered to address infrastructure issues, especially stormwater drainage networks across all areas of Petra District, contributing to the improvement of the service reality and reducing the recurrence of damages in the future.

He called for the urgency in addressing the damages and solving the issues faced by the affected areas, assisting the citizens, providing adequate infrastructure, and enhancing attention to stormwater drainage networks, in order to limit the recurrence of such damages in the future.

The Petra Region Authority had placed its staff on high alert from the morning of yesterday until the end of the unstable weather condition, to immediately deal with the repercussions of the weather condition, based on warnings from the Meteorological Department and relevant authorities.
