Khaberni - The Saudi National Center for Meteorology has warned about the commencement of the rainy condition in most regions of the kingdom starting from yesterday (Saturday) December 6th, as wide areas are exposed to thunderstorm rainfalls that vary between moderate and heavy, with an expectation of intensification on a number of governorates in the coming days, and possibilities of floods, rising waves, and hailstorms in some locations.
The forecasts issued by the National Center for Meteorology confirm the continuation of the condition for six days, until (Thursday) December 11, 2025, within a wide atmospheric scope that includes most regions of the kingdom.
Weather alerts
The National Center for Meteorology has detailed that the rainy condition covers the regions of the kingdom with varying degrees of intensity, and the center has called for monitoring the reports and weather alerts through the center's website and application (Anwa) and its official accounts; due to the wide extent of the condition and the variety of accompanying phenomena.
The center expects the light rains to range from 1 to 4 millimeters per hour, moderate rains between 5 and 9 millimeters per hour, and heavy rains to exceed between 10 – 50 millimeters per hour, possibly more, accompanied by downdraft winds that may reach speeds up to 60 kilometers/hour, with possibilities of forming floods, hailstorms, rising waves on the coastlines, and forming funnel clouds or water spouts in some areas.
Among the areas receiving rain are the region of Tabuk, where the condition starts Saturday until Monday, December 8th, and includes heavy rains on Haql and Neom and Al-Bada on Saturday and Sunday, affecting Tabuk and Duba and Tayma from Sunday, December 7th until Wednesday, December 10th with heavy rains extending in severity to Sunday and Monday. Heavy rains also fall on Al Wajh and Umluj during the same period.
The region of Medina also witnesses rain starting from Sunday, December 7th until Wednesday, December 10th, exposing Al-Ula and Yanbu and Badr and Al-'Ais to heavy rains intensifying during different time periods, while Medina and Khaybar and Al-Hinakiya and Mahd and Wadi Al-Far'a experience heavy rains until Tuesday in some governorates.
Medium to heavy rainfalls
The region of Mecca is affected by the rainy condition starting from Monday to Wednesday, witnessing medium to heavy rains that include the Holy Capital, Jeddah, Taif, Meesan, Adham, Rabigh, Khalis, Bahrah, Al Kamil, and Jamoom, while Al Lith, Al Qunfudhah, and Al Aridhah experience medium to heavy rains on Wednesday and Thursday, extending medium rains to Turbah, Al Mowaih, and Al Khurma governorates.
The region of Al-Jouf experiences heavy rains on Al Qurayyat and Tabarjal on Saturday and Sunday, followed by medium to heavy rains from Monday to Wednesday, while Sakaka and Domat Al-Jandal witness heavy rains from Sunday to Wednesday.
In Northern Borders, heavy rains fall on Turaif on Saturday and Sunday, followed by medium to heavy rains from Monday to Wednesday, while Arar, Rafha, and Al-'Uwayqilah experience medium to heavy rains throughout the period from Sunday to Wednesday.
The region of 'Asir experiences medium rains on Abha and Khamis Mushait and Al-Namas and Tanomah and Rijal Almaa and Barak and Mahayil 'Asir and Al Majardah and Balqarn on Wednesday and Thursday. The Eastern region also experiences medium to heavy rains on Hafar Al-Batin and Al Khafji during the same period. Moderate to heavy rains include the region of Al-Bahah and its governorates Beljurshi, Al-Mandaq, Qilwah, Bani Hassan, Al Qura, Al Makhwah, and Al Hajrah and Ghamid Al-Zinad.
The region of Riyadh is expected to experience medium rains on Wednesday and Thursday on Ad Dawadimi, Afif, Az Zulfi, Al Majmaah, Al-Ghat, Shaqra, Thadiq, and Rumah, and Al Qassim experiences medium to heavy rains extending over Buraidah, Unayzah, Riyadh Al-Khabra, Al Bukayriyah, Al Badai, 'Uyun Al Jawa, Al Midhnab, Al-Shamasiyah, Asyiah, Abanat, and Ar Rass and 'Uqlat Al-Suqor and Al Nabhaniyah and Dhariyah from Monday to Wednesday.
The region of Hail experiences heavy rains from Sunday to Wednesday on Hail, Al-Ghazalah, Al Shamli, Al Hulw, Al-Shinan, Baqaa, Samira, Alsulaimi, and Mowiq, while medium rains fall on the region of Jazan on Wednesday and Thursday on Al Rayth, Harub, Ad-Dair, Al Aidabi, Faifa, Al Aridah, and Al Harth.
«Civil Defense» urges caution
The General Directorate of Civil Defense has called for caution and vigilance and the necessity to adhere to preventive guidelines during the impact of the rainy condition, emphasizing the importance of staying in safe places, avoiding streambeds and valleys, not swimming in them, and adhering to the instructions announced through various media outlets and social media sites, due to the thunderstorms across the kingdom until the coming Thursday.
The Directorate has summoned everyone to adhere to safety instructions and to stay away from dangerous places during rainfall, confirming their readiness to deal with any incidents during the rainy condition.
