Khaberni - New data reveals that the ultra-slim iPhone Air has seen a sharper decline in its resale value during the first ten weeks of availability, compared to the rest of the iPhone 17 series, as well as previous iPhone series.

Although it is still too early to describe the iPhone Air as a "failure," the current data is sufficient to indicate that the phone may not be performing at the level of the other devices in Apple's iPhone 17 series.

Of course, this is somewhat expected, as it is impossible for all models to achieve sales similar to their counterparts. Nevertheless, with leaks spreading about Apple reducing the production of iPhone Air to "end-of-life stages" and delaying the release of the next generation of this model until 2027, the situation seems less than ideal, according to a report from "9to5Mac," a site specialized in technology news.

A new report from the "SellCell" platform for selling phones and tablets indicates that the iPhone Air experienced a decrease in resale value of up to 47.4% during the first ten weeks of availability, which the platform calls "the worst decline in resale value of any iPhone since 2022".

And although ten weeks is a very short period to draw conclusive conclusions, "SellCell" has been conducting the same analysis for years, providing at least a consistent comparison base across different releases.

In the report, the platform analyzed 52 versions of iPhones since the release of the iPhone 14 series, and concluded that while the iPhone 16 series experienced a greater drop in resale value during its first week, at a loss rate of 42%, compared with a 41% drop for the iPhone Air, and 40% for the iPhone 17 series, the situation completely changed after the sixth week.

By that time, the average decrease in value of the iPhone Air reached 43.4%, compared to 40.3% for the iPhone 16 series, and only 36.7% for the rest of the iPhone 17 series.

"SellCell" pointed out that "while the decline in value (of the iPhone 17 series) stabilizes by week ten, the decline in the value of Air continues, indicating the possibility of long-term issues in resale trust."
