Khaberni - Netflix has announced that the series "Friends" will leave its library in the United Kingdom on December 30, 2025, after being on air since 2015. The news has provoked angry reactions among fans, who considered the series a part of their daily routine and a means for relaxation and entertainment.
"Friends" is one of the most re-watched series, and in 2018 Netflix had to renegotiate with Warner Bros, paying between 80 and 100 million dollars to ensure its continuation for another year, making it the most-watched series on the platform in the United Kingdom at that time.
The departure of the series from Netflix is due to the current streaming wars, as Warner Bros is preparing to launch the HBO Max service in the United Kingdom and considers "Friends" as one of its main contents to attract new subscribers, according to "The Guardian".
Media experts affirm that the series' departure does not mean the end of viewing, especially in light of possible mergers of streaming platforms, which may return the ownership of the series to Netflix or another platform in the future.
