Khaberni - A mother reported her 14-year-old daughter missing in the state of Florida, USA, only for authorities to later discover she had been shot and then burned by two schoolmates, in a crime described as "horrific."
The police said that the girl, named Danka Jade Troy, disappeared from her home in the Pace community, near the Alabama border. Her mother later discovered her missing, while the murder had, in fact, occurred the previous night, according to Santa Rosa County Sheriff, Bob Johnson, as reported by "People" magazine.
The authorities explained that the girl was carrying her electric scooter when the boys, aged 16 and 14, lured her to a forest area. There, the older boy stole his mother's weapon and shot Danka several times before setting her body on fire.
The investigations are still ongoing to determine the motives of the boys behind targeting the girl, despite them being her friends from school. The girl's burned and bullet-ridden body was found by a passerby who immediately reported it to the police.
The boys were arrested and charged with first-degree premeditated murder, with the possibility of being treated as adults, although the authorities have not disclosed their identities as they are minors. The boys are being held in the juvenile justice system, and it is not yet clear if they have hired lawyers for their defense.
A campaign was launched on "GoFundMe" to help the girl's family cover the funeral expenses, raising more than $5,500.
