Khaberni - The German government has called on the occupation to stop settlement activities in the West Bank, ahead of an anticipated visit by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to Tel Aviv.
According to the German news agency, the deputy spokesperson for the German government, Sebastian Hille, said during a press conference held in Berlin last night that "the construction of settlements contradicts international law, and violates relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions."
The government spokesperson added, "Therefore, as we have done in the past, we renew our call for the Israeli government to stop settlement construction."
The spokesperson said, "We reject any steps towards annexation of the West Bank, and consider it a major obstacle to the two-state solution through negotiations and the implementation of the peace plan."
Germany has condemned the repeated cases of violence perpetrated by settlers against Palestinian civilians.
