Khaberni - Following the killing of Yasser Abu Shabab, leader of the so-called "Popular Forces" militia in southern Gaza Strip, the name Ghassan Duhainy surfaced, who was also injured in the clashes that occurred in Rafah and led to Abu Shabab's death.
After sustaining minor injuries, he was transferred to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon for treatment, according to the Israeli Army Radio.
However, he appeared two days ago during Abu Shabab's funeral procession, as posted by the "Popular Forces" accounts on social media, with a video of Duhainy walking in Rafah surrounded by a number of gunmen.
Duhainy, a former Palestinian security officer and a candidate to lead the "Popular Forces," confirmed in an interview with Channel 12 Israeli, last Friday evening, that "if the Israeli army withdraws from Gaza, his group would fight Hamas until it is eradicated," in his words.
He also vowed to follow in Abu Shabab's footsteps, saying, "We will continue to fight with all the strength we have left until the last of the terrorists, young and old, no matter who they are. Today, Hamas will show its true face that the world should have seen a long time ago."
Moreover, Duhainy considered Hamas too weak to undermine anyone's morale in the sector.
