Khaberni - Apple stated on Friday that it has sent its users in 84 countries a new batch of cyber threat notifications, thereby announcing its latest efforts to protect its customers from surveillance threats.
Apple is one of several technology companies that regularly issue warnings to users when they believe they may be targeted by state-supported hackers.
The statement from Apple, which noted that the warnings were issued on December 2, included only a few additional details about the alleged surveillance operations and did not clarify how many users were targeted or who is believed to be behind this surveillance, according to "Reuters".
Prior waves of warnings have made headlines and prompted government entities to conduct investigations, including the European Union, whose top officials had previously been targeted with spyware.
In its statement, the company said, "To date, we have informed users in more than 150 countries in total."
