Khaberni - The Indian child Sarwagya Singh Kushwaha, aged 3 years, 7 months, and 20 days, has become the youngest chess player listed in the ranking of the International Chess Federation "FIDE" (FIDE).
This prodigious child surpassed the previous record held by his compatriot Anish Sarkar, who joined the ranking of the International Chess Federation in November last year, when he was 3 years, 8 months, and 19 days old.
Kushwaha, a kindergarten student in Madhya Pradesh in central India, scored 1572 points in a rapid chess match, according to the federation's website.
To obtain a rating from the International Chess Federation, a player must defeat at least one rated player. The rating is based on the chess player's performance, but it does not represent an official ranking.
Currently, Magnus Carlsen, the world's number one rated player, holds the top spot in the rapid chess category of the International Chess Federation, with 2824 points.
The father of the Indian player said in a statement reported by local media that his son's achievement is a "source of great pride and honor," adding, "We want him to become a grandmaster" in chess.
Sarwagya Singh Kushwaha has defeated 3 rated players in tournaments held in his state and other regions of the country.
