Khaberni - - The number of complaints received by the Consumer Protection Directorate at the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply during the first eleven months of this year increased by 27% compared to the same period last year.
The total number of complaints received by the Consumer Protection Directorate until the end of November last year was 1235, compared to 974 complaints for the same period the previous year, according to Al-Ghad.
The topics of complaints varied among post-sale services, defective goods, and mandatory vehicle warranties, in addition to electronic purchasing.
Statistics indicate that the number of complaints that were closed reached 1050 complaints, which is 85% of the total number of complaints, in addition to 84 notifications and 33 violations being issued.
According to official data, the highest number of complaints was in the services sector, with 333 complaints which approximately constitutes 27% of the total complaints received, followed by the electrical sector with 309 complaints accounting for 25%, and then the automotive sector, with the number of complaints being 198, approximately 16% of the total complaints.
Statistics show that the ministry received 185 complaints about e-commerce, which constituted 15% of the total number of complaints.
Regarding the content of the complaints, statistics show that the ministry received 556 complaints for post-sale services, and 346 complaints for defective goods or services, and 296 complaints about warranties and contracts.
Article 3 of the Consumer Protection Law stipulates, "the right of the consumer to obtain goods or services that fulfill their intended purpose without harming the consumer's interest or health, in addition to obtaining accurate and complete information about the goods or services and their sale conditions."
In response to inquiries by Al-Ghad, the ministry reiterated that the increase in complaints is a positive indicator, reflecting an increase in citizens' awareness of the regulations and laws that protect consumer rights.
