Khaberni - Iraqi media outlets revealed on Thursday that a citizen found an infant abandoned inside a truck on the side of the international highway that connects the provinces of Dhi Qar and Basra, where a video clip documenting the moment the man saw the child was circulated.
According to local media, the man, a resident of Anbar province, was driving on the road when he noticed an infant, not more than three months old, lying on the side of the road.
The source added that the citizen immediately contacted a nearby security patrol.
The patrol took the child to Souq al-Shuyukh General Hospital to assess his health condition and ensure necessary medical care was provided, while the source confirmed that the infant’s condition is now under the supervision of the specialized medical staff.
The same source indicated that security forces have initiated an extensive investigation to unearth the details of the incident, identify the child's parents, and determine any parties that may be involved in abandoning him at this location, while following up on recordings circulated in the video that spread on social media platforms.
