In new statements, the Argentine star Lionel Messi expressed his hope to participate within the ranks of his country's team in the World Cup 2026 scheduled in North America.

Messi,Inter Miami's striker who is 38 years old, in an interview with ESPN today Thursday said: "I hope to be there, I have previously stated that I love to be present", referring to his desire to help Argentina defend its title won in 2022 in Qatar.

He assured that having won eight Ballon d'Ors he prefers to participate in the tournament provided his physical condition allows it, adding: "In the worst case, I will be there to watch it directly, but it will be special.. The World Cup is special for everyone, especially for us (Argentinians), as we experience it in a completely different way".
