The ceremony of the World Cup 2026 draw will be held at Kennedy Center in Washington, next Friday, December 52025, at12:00 Eastern Time (USA) (18:00 Central European Time, 17:00 Greenwich Mean Time).

For the Arab region and the Middle East, the ceremony time will be at eight in the evening (20:00) according to the time in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Jordan, (18:00 Morroco and Algeria time and19:00 Egypt time).

Procedures for the World Cup 2026 draw

Last week, FIFA announced the draw's procedures, revealing that Spain will not face Argentina, nor will France meet England until the finals of the World Cup, provided they top their groups.

This system aims to maintain competitive balance in the expanded format that includes 48 teams, by ensuring that the top-ranked team (Spain) and the second-ranked (World Champion Argentina) are in different paths, and the same applies to the third (France) and fourth (England).

Even if these teams do not top their groups, the four highest-ranked national teams will not meet until the semi-finals.

The participating teams in the draw 42 national teams as follows:

Host countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America.

Asian Football Confederation: Australia, Iran, Japan, Jordan, South Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan.

African Football Confederation: Algeria, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia.

North, Central American and Caribbean Football Confederation: Curaçao, Haiti, Panama.

South American Football Confederation: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay.

Oceania Football Confederation: New Zealand.

European Football Union: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland.

Remaining World Cup seats

There are still6 of the48 participating teams unknown, and their fate will be decided in March 2026.

Four teams will qualify from the European play-off which includes 16 teams: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, Kosovo, Northern Ireland, North Macedonia, Poland, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, and Wales.

Six teams will compete for the remaining two seats in the World Cup through the intercontinental play-offs, including Bolivia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Jamaica, New Caledonia, and Suriname.
