Khaberni - Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that Russia will continue to participate in efforts to solve the Palestinian issue within the framework of the United Nations, emphasizing that establishing an independent Palestinian state is a key to solving the Gaza Strip issue.

Putin said in an interview with "India Today": "I believe that it is correct to think about ways to organize the management of the Gaza Strip that allows full powers to be transferred to the Palestinians", explaining that such options "are up for discussion among Arab countries, neighboring countries, and even outside the region, including in the United States", and added: "I know that this is part of the United Nations' system of work. We have always participated in this process, and will continue to do so with our friends."

President Putin affirmed that "the creation of an independent Palestinian state is the key to solving the Gaza Strip issue", considering that any sustainable settlement in the Strip must go through this political path.

Putin also pointed out that "the release of prisoners was a fundamental step taken within the framework of efforts to resolve the Palestinian conflict," saying: "What has been achieved so far was accomplished with the efforts of US President Donald Trump, primarily the return of the Israeli prisoners. Frankly, I see that this was the most important step taken in the path of resolving the Palestinian conflict."

Last October, President Putin confirmed during the "Valdai" international forum that Russia is generally ready to support President Trump's proposal regarding the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that the transfer of administration must be to the Palestinian Authority.

Putin emphasized that Russian support for any initiative "depends on the extent of its commitment to the two-state solution, which represents the key to the final solution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and on the clarity of the mechanisms and timelines for transferring civil and security powers to the Palestinians."

President Putin emphasized the need to understand the duration that the international administration will take in managing the Gaza Strip, and the schedule for transferring civil authority and security issues, where the international administration "can not be a permanent alternative to Palestinian sovereignty."
