Khaberni - "Globo" network revealed the participation of Brazilian Yuri de Carvalho da Silva (30 years old), an attacking midfielder at Goitacaz club, in the final of the second division of the Carioca Championship (fourth level), while under judicial surveillance.
Globo mentioned that Yuri is serving a sentence related to a conviction in a previous drug trafficking case, and was granted probation in May last year to begin his sentence with electronic monitoring after spending seven years behind bars.
Yuri participated in the first leg of the final, which ended in a 1-1 draw, while hiding his monitoring bracelet under his sock.
Sources in the club confirmed to the Brazilian network "Globo" that there is no legal obstacle in competition regulations preventing the participation of players in this situation, pointing out that the club sees sports as a tool for social rehabilitation.
The club plans to renew the player's contract after the championship ends, in an effort to remove the monitoring device.
