Khaberni - Dr. Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, the head of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee, said that the Greater Amman Municipality is striving to make Amman a leading city, more modern and sustainable, capable of facing challenges and opening new developmental horizons, and developing local administration, and improving the level of services provided.
This was stated during his acceptance of the Arab Government Excellence Award in the category of "Best Municipal Manager in Arab Cities" (Greater Amman Municipality), at a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo to honor the winners in the fourth round of the award 2025, sponsored by the Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and attended by the Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
Al-Shawarbeh added that we are proud of this recognition which reflects the image of Amman as a leading Arab city in urban development and municipal services, and we regard this victory as the fruit of collective efforts made by the Greater Amman Municipality with a spirit of responsibility and creativity, striving to provide quality services that meet the aspirations of citizens and enhance the capital's status.
He confirmed that the municipality is working, in accordance with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to enhance the public transport system and digital transformation and improve the quality of life for citizens.
He added that we consider this award a strategic driver to enhance innovation in city management and develop sustainable solutions that keep pace with urban growth and ensure a better quality of life for communities.
Al-Shawarbeh thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his support of the Arab Government Excellence journey in his speech.
This honor comes in recognition of the leadership role of Dr. Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, head of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee, in developing the municipal work system in the capital Amman, by adopting modern strategies that have contributed to enhancing the quality of services and improving the level of citizen satisfaction, and moving towards building a smart and sustainable city that keeps pace with global progress in urban management.

The Arab Government Excellence Award, launched by the government of the United Arab Emirates in 2019 in partnership with the Arab League, aims to achieve administrative development and institutional excellence in government on the Arab level, and to stimulate leadership thought, by encouraging various governmental entities and government employees in the Arab world to adopt innovation and excellence and efficiency to achieve a positive impact in improving the quality of life of Arab communities.
