Mundo Deportivo highlighted statements by Barcelona's sporting director Deco, regarding the return of Lionel Messi, one of the most prominent legends of "Blaugrana" throughout history.
Deco said: "Messi's return on loan? I don't think that's possible because Leo is tied to a contract and the matter was never brought up. Leo is Leo, and he still has something to offer. He's a great player, but that's not an issue we're going to discuss."
The sporting director of Barcelona added: "The current situation is entirely speculative."
Deco, former star of Portuguese and Barca football, confirmed that he is not surprised to hear Barcelona fans chanting Messi's name in the 10th minute at Spotify Camp Nou, saying: "Leo will always be influential throughout his life. For me, Messi is the best player in the club's history alongside Johan Cruyff and Ronaldinho. It's natural that this generation's fans won't forget him."
