Khaberni - In a humorous incident in Virginia, a liquor store was turned into a "temporary bar" after it was broken into by a thirsty raccoon, who did not just roam between the shelves, but also consumed some of the bottles until it became "drunk," before passing out and sleeping inside the bathroom, according to the local police.
The "New York Post" reported, quoting the animal protection authorities in Hanover County, that the animal, nicknamed "the masked thief," was found lying next to the toilet on Saturday morning after leaving behind a massive mess of shattered bottles, overturned shelves, and scattered boxes.
Funny little creatures
Samantha Martin, the animal control officer who dealt with the incident, told the Associated Press: "They are funny little creatures," adding that the raccoon "fell from one of the ceiling tiles and began a complete frenzy, then started drinking everything it came across."
Tasting different types of alcohol
Photos released by the shelter revealed that the animal "enjoyed" tasting different types of alcoholic drinks.
The authorities detained the raccoon for a short period in the shelter to "recover before they later released it into the wild.
She said in a tongue-in-cheek post on Facebook: "After hours of sleep and with no notable injuries, except maybe a headache and some bad decisions, it was safely released, hoping it realizes that breaking in is not the solution!"
She concluded the post with a salute to Officer Martin for handling the "alcoholic chaos" with professionalism and a spirited attitude.
