Khaberni - The Ministry of Water and Irrigation/Water Authority, said on Wednesday that its inspection teams working in the internal control unit, in collaboration with the Yarmouk Water Company, carried out a comprehensive inspection campaign in the Northern Jordan Valley, which resulted in detecting assaults on one of the main pipelines of 4 inches in diameter, through which two lines were illegally drawn to supply water to farms and homes, as part of the ongoing campaign by the water sector to control assaults on water sources in the kingdom.
The ministry indicated that the violations were removed, and the necessary reports were prepared for the detected incidents to be referred to the competent authorities for taking the required legal actions against the offenders.
The ministry emphasized that the Water Authority teams will continue to organize consecutive inspection campaigns according to the prepared schedule, which is being carried out vigorously in all regions of the kingdom, achieving positive and consistent results, activating them in all areas, in collaboration with all concerned entities, and applying the provisions of the amended water law which stipulates imprisonment for anyone who assaults water sources. It ensures that penalties for those who attack the national water system are increased to severe punishments up to several years, with fines amounting to tens of thousands of dinars.
