The King Hussein Cancer Center identifies the category not covered by treatment

Khaberni - The General Director of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, Nesreen Qatamish, said that treatment for categories not covered by government health insurance at the King Hussein Cancer Center is guaranteed by the Ministry of Health, unless the beneficiary holds any military or civilian insurances.

Regarding the center's readiness to implement the insurance agreement with the government, Qatamish confirmed on Wednesday that the center is ready to receive patients and provide them with high-quality healthcare, noting that precise actuarial studies have been conducted within the center’s capacity.

She added that the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship have completed the necessary electronic trials and procedures to issue government health insurance cards for treatment at the King Hussein Cancer Center, in line with the agreement with the government, which includes 4.1 million Jordanians aged 19 years and below, and the elderly aged 60 and above, who are not covered by military or private health insurance, in addition to beneficiaries of the National Aid Fund and their families of all ages who are not covered by military health insurance.

The General Director confirmed that the selection of the indicated categories was made to achieve justice and insure the "most vulnerable" groups in society.

She explained that the agreement between the government and the center represents a radical shift in the financing mechanism for cancer treatment, moving towards "an insurance model it’s built upon."

Qatamish invited those not covered, and those wishing to receive treatment at the King Hussein Cancer Center, to optionally subscribe to "care insurance" through their companies.

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and the King Hussein Cancer Foundation launched on Tuesday the government health insurance card service for treatment at the King Hussein Cancer Center via the "Sanad" application, where eligible citizens will be able to get the cards starting Tuesday, in preparation for the activation of the insurance starting from January 1, 2026.

An online platform for inquiring about government health insurance for treatment at the center has also been launched, enabling citizens to directly verify insurance using the national number via the online link, and facilitating access to insurance information and services.

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship invited citizens to follow the steps listed in the Sanad application to obtain an insurance card, by logging into the application using a personal account, then moving to "My Documents" in the main interface, and downloading the "care insurance" card.

An agreement was signed between the government and the King Hussein Cancer Foundation last June to implement the government health insurance program for treatment at the center, and to define the mechanisms for providing the service according to an approach that ensures clarity, fairness, and sustainability of procedures.

The adoption of this system is part of the government's efforts to enhance the principles of social protection, marking a major shift in the provision of healthcare and ensuring its continuity for the neediest groups.

The government health insurance covers approximately 4.1 million Jordanian citizens at a cost of 124 million dinars allocated by the government from the 2026 budget, while the King Hussein Cancer Foundation bears the remainder of the cost, which amounts to about 8.5 million dinars.

The beneficiary categories include all Jordanians aged 19 years and under, and aged 60 and above, who are not covered by military or private health insurance, in addition to beneficiaries of the National Aid Fund and their families of all ages who are not covered by military health insurance.
