Khaberni - The Syrian Minister of Transport, Dr. Yarub Badr, welcomed this morning at the ministry's headquarters in Damascus the Secretary-General of the Arab Union for Land Transport, Malik Haddad.
The visiting delegation included Dr. Khaled Al-Lahham, Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Arab Union for Land Transport, General Manager of JET company
and Engineer George Scaff, Board member, General Manager of the Union's Syria branch.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance Arab cooperation on several vital issues, most notably:
The Arab Transit Logbook and its activation mechanisms
And also the Arab Transport Portal and the development of its services by the Arab Union for Land Transport.
The topic of traffic safety and raising its standards
Discussions also revolved around unifying weights and axle loads among Arab countries to boost intra-Arab trade.
Furthermore, talks were held on establishing advanced service centers for passengers and tourists at border crossings between Arab countries.
The meeting concluded by agreeing on nominating a representative from the Syrian Ministry of Transport to the Board of Directors of the Arab Union for Land Transport.
The visiting delegation also met with the Minister of Finance in the Syrian Arab Republic, Dr. Mohammed Yasser, who welcomed the delegation and praised the efforts of the Arab Union for Land Transport in supporting and developing the transport sector economically on the Arab level.
