Khaberni - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zeina Toukan, signed two grant agreements with the German Development Bank worth 30 million euros, aimed at enhancing education and vocational and technical training in Jordan.
The German side was represented by Dr. Matthias Schmidt-Rosin, Director of the German Development Bank in Jordan, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Bertram von Moltke, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Tamam Manko, the Executive Director of the Crown Prince Foundation, Professor Dr. Ismail Al-Hinti, President of Al Hussein Technical University, and the Engineer Ammar Al-Gharaybeh, the CEO of the Advanced Vocational Training College.
The first agreement included a grant worth 20 million euros, which is the third phase of the German government's contribution to supporting the Advanced Vocational Training College project, one of the programs of the Crown Prince Foundation and implemented by Hussein Technical University, aimed at developing the vocational and technical education and training sector and aligning it with the labor market needs through developing a network of training centers distributed in different areas in Jordan, and establishing the new headquarters in Amman equipped with advanced laboratories and facilities to be a leading regional center in vocational and technical education, in addition to developing practical training programs in more than 14 vocational specialties, which enhances employment opportunities and entrepreneurship and provides youth with practical skills required in the labor market. This agreement was also signed on the Jordanian side by Dr. Tamam Manko and Professor Dr. Ismail Al-Hinti.
As for the second agreement, it is a supplementary grant agreement for the second phase of the program to accelerate the access of Syrian refugee children to formal education in Jordan valued at 10 million euros, which is a multi-year program to support the Ministry of Education.
Minister Toukan praised the strategic partnership between Jordan and Germany, and the ongoing support provided by the German government to the kingdom, asserting that education, training, and employment are key priorities in the vision of economic modernization and the executive program, and that the project to enhance education, vocational and technical training forms a central platform for linking training to the needs of the labor market.
The German Ambassador commented, saying: "Education opens doors, and skills make the future, and today we are enhancing both. These agreements reflect the depth of the Jordanian-German partnership and our joint commitment to ensuring quality education for children and providing employment opportunities for teachers in Jordan, alongside developing a modern system for vocational and technical education that prepares youth for real opportunities in a dynamic economy. The model of the project to enhance education and vocational training embodies our belief that youth equipped with skills are at the core of Jordan's vision for economic modernization. Education and skills are the pillars of resilience, and through this cooperation, we stand with Jordan in expanding opportunities, supporting stability, and investing in a future that excludes no one."
