Khaberni - American billionaire Elon Musk has stirred a wide wave of controversy after issuing a new warning via his platform X (formerly Twitter), in which he states that the world may be on the brink of a major, potentially nuclear global conflict within a period ranging from five to ten years.
The statement, made in the context of an intellectual debate about the impact of nuclear deterrence on government performance, has ignited global discussions about the realism and danger of this prediction.
The debate began when Musk responded to a post by a user named "Hunter Ash," who stated that governments have become less effective due to the absence of any real external threat, considering that the possession of nuclear weapons by major countries prevents wars and reduces the pressure that drives governments to improve their performance, according to indiatoday.
Ash explained that nuclear deterrence has created a state of international deadlock, reducing the ability of institutions to evolve.
Musk, known for his straightforward and unembellished statements, responded with a brief but alarming sentence: "War is inevitable. 5 years, 10 at most."
The billionaire did not provide any additional details about the nature of the war or the potential parties involved, which has opened the door to various interpretations, especially since his words come amidst a tense international environment including conflicts in Ukraine, crises in Taiwan, and tensions within Europe.
A number of users on X turned to the chatbot "Grok," developed by Musk's company xAI, to try to understand the context of his statements.
"Grok" explained in its responses that Musk had previously warned of the possibility of internal disturbances in Europe and the United Kingdom due to widespread immigration and identity politics, in addition to the risks of a conflict between the United States and China over Taiwan, or the Ukrainian war escalating into a global confrontation.
"Grok" noted that Musk sees that nuclear deterrence is no longer capable of preventing tensions from escalating, with increasing frictions between the major powers and weakening the ability of international institutions to contain crises.
Observers have considered that Musk's statements may reflect a pessimistic view of the current international system's ability to avoid a major confrontation, especially in light of increasing political divisions and the decline in the effectiveness of multilateral diplomacy.
On the other hand, others believe that Musk's statements may be an attempt to draw attention to the fragility of the global situation, rather than being an accurate prediction of a specific scenario.
Some analysts suggest that Musk's controversial personality, along with his history of making shocking statements, makes it necessary to approach his words with caution.
However, Musk's global impact and his former role as the head of the "Ministry of Government Efficiency" in the United States have made his latest statement fertile material for discussion among international policy experts, amid serious questions about the future of global stability and the international system's ability to avoid the worst scenarios.
