Khaberni - Many know that starting the day with coffee is an unhealthy routine, while nutritionists encourage starting the day by drinking warm water, to provide the body with several benefits and to activate it properly.
Nutrition expert Amy Clinton, founder of "Interly Amy," recommends not doing anything in the morning before drinking 300 ml of warm water.
According to "Suri Life," the nutrition expert explains that the best way to activate the body from the inside out is to drink this amount of warm water first thing in the morning.
The reason is that the body slows down at night while it rests and recovers, which means that the metabolism is not operating at full capacity the moment you wake up.
Starting the day
She says that warm water acts as a gentle key, pushing the digestive system to work and encouraging the intestines to start moving again.
Amy says: "Warm water is soothing to the stomach and helps stimulate the intestines to resume their function. It's one of the easiest ways to activate digestion in the morning, making you feel more energetic."
She adds that most people underestimate the dehydration they feel upon waking. Even mild dehydration can affect concentration, hunger signals, and food digestion efficiency throughout the day.
She continues: "Warm water hydrates the body faster than cold water because it is gentler on the stomach. The body absorbs it quickly."
What about weight?
Amy believes that this daily habit can make an immediate difference given the hydration effect on appetite.
She adds: "If you start your morning by hydrating your body properly, it's unlikely that you’ll confuse thirst with hunger."
Many people think they need a heavier breakfast than they actually do, simply because their bodies are desperately in need of fluids."
Warm water helps balance these signals and not respond to misleading hunger pangs.
After warm water awakens the intestines in the morning, Amy advises having a protein-rich breakfast to stabilize the appetite for hours.
Along with consuming carbohydrates as close to their natural form as possible, such as whole bread and oats, the nutrition expert recommends consuming a portion of fruit in the morning, to provide the body with vitamins and fiber to prolong satiety.
