Despite Trumps Warning Third Israeli Incursion into Syrian Quneitra

Khaberni - On Monday evening, the Israeli occupation forces executed a third incursion within hours into the countryside of Quneitra in southwestern Syria, shortly after the US President Donald Trump renewed his warning to the Israeli government against obstructing the political transition process in Syria.

The Syrian official news agency (SANA) reported that an Israeli force, including 4 military vehicles and two tanks, penetrated the Hamriyah hill located between the town of Hadar and the village of Tranjeh in the northern countryside of Quneitra.

The US President called, on Monday, for the Israeli government to abstain from any actions that might obstruct the political transition process in Syria.

Trump posted on the "Truth Social" platform that his administration is "very satisfied" with the performance of the new Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shar.

The US President added, "It is very important for Israel to maintain a strong and genuine dialogue with Syria, and that nothing should occur that might interfere with Syria's development into a prosperous state."

In this context, the office of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a phone call with the US President on Monday evening, where the Israeli broadcasting authority stated it was part of American efforts to deescalate following a series of Israeli incursions in southern Syria.

According to the authority, Washington is working on easing the tension between the sides after an incident last weekend, where 6 Israeli soldiers were injured by gunfire in Beit Jinn in the countryside of Damascus, following an Israeli patrol incursion into the town at dawn on Friday.

Israel later retaliated with an airstrike on the town's residents, resulting in the death of 13 people, including women and children, and injuring about 25 others.

Ongoing Israeli Escalation

During the previous incursions in the countryside of Quneitra on Monday, gunfire was directed at civilian homes in the village of Abu Qubeis, according to local sources.

In recent weeks, Quneitra has witnessed escalation by the Israeli military, with residents complaining about Israeli incursions into their agricultural lands, which are their sole source of livelihood.

During these military operations, the Israeli forces destroyed hundreds of dunams (1 dunam equals 1000 square meters) of forests, detained civilians, and set up military checkpoints to inspect passersby.

In recent months, meetings between Israeli and Syrian officials have been held with the aim of reaching security arrangements that lead to the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the buffer zone controlled since December 2024.

However, the Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz stated at the end of November that Israel "is not on a path to peace with Syria."

Israel continues to carry out ground incursions and airstrikes inside Syrian territory, targeting civilian and military sites and causing casualties and destruction of Syrian military equipment.

Israel has been occupying most of the Golan Heights since the June 1967 war, and it expanded its control following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime in late 2024.
