Khaberni - The defense team of artist Saad Lamjarred announced the postponement of the scheduled session for his trial before the French Criminal Court, in the case related to rape charges, due to the health conditions of the court president.
The defense, in a statement published by Saad Lamjarred on his social media accounts, explained that the postponement was justified, but expressed regret that it would extend the time for final judgement in the case by several more months, especially after the prosecutor's office requested not to prosecute over four years ago.
The statement also referred to the anticipated session for the second file, related to the accusation of Lamjarred attacking a waitress, which has also been postponed.
This came after the complainant was summoned before the court over accusations of attempting extortion and participating in organizing a gang to prepare for a fraud operation related to the course of justice.
At the end of the statement, Saad Lamjarred's legal team confirmed that "the artist is concerned with only these two cases and nothing else, maintaining his innocence for over nine years," looking forward to achieving full justice as soon as possible.
It is worth noting that Saad Lamjarred's name came to prominence in the United States in 2010 after being charged with rape in a case that later ended with a settlement with the complainant, the details and value of which were not disclosed.
In April 2017, the name of the Moroccan artist returned to the forefront after a new charge was issued following statements by a French Moroccan young woman who claimed she was sexually assaulted and violated in Casablanca in 2015, as reported by various media outlets.
