Khaberni - Media reports have confirmed that the Algeria national team is facing a new challenge ahead of the kickoff of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The fennecfootball website mentioned that the issue concerns goalkeeper Luca Zidane, son of the French star Zinedine Zidane, who has recently become a substitute player at Spanish club Granada.
It explained: "This development poses a major crisis for coach Vladimir Petkovic, who was relying on Zidane to secure the goalkeeper position that the Algerian national team has been unstable for many years."
It added: "The Algeria national team is preparing for the continental tournament with great hope to overcome its previous failures, after an early exit from the first round in the 2021 and 2023 editions, but the difficulties do not stop at the level of goalkeeping, as the first round came very tough after the tournament draw, where 'the Greens' will face teams from Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan, in a group where every point has great value."
It continued: "While the team continues its final preparations, the situation of Luca Zidane remains a concern for the technical staff, as the coach will need alternative options to ensure the stability of the back line, enhancing Algeria's chances of competing strongly for the title of the African Nations Cup and achieving positive results to compensate for the failures of the previous editions."
