Maduro Responds to American Threats Venezuela Does Not Want the Peace of Slaves

Khaberni - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said during a rally attended by thousands of his supporters in Caracas on Monday that he rejects the "peace of slaves," pointing out that the American military deployment in the Caribbean region has put the country "at stake" for 22 weeks.

Maduro continued, "We want peace, but we want peace with sovereignty, equality, and freedom. We do not want the peace of slaves, not colonial peace," as President Donald Trump plans to meet with the National Security Council to discuss the situation in Venezuela.

Washington claims it is fighting drug cartels and has deployed military forces in the Caribbean Sea region for this purpose since last August, including the world's largest aircraft carrier.

Maduro said, "We have lived 22 weeks of aggression that can be described as psychological terrorism, 22 weeks that have put us at stake. The Venezuelan people have shown their love for the country."

The US President acknowledged on Sunday that he had a telephone conversation with his Venezuelan counterpart, but did not mention any details of what was discussed during this call.
