Khaberni - Minister of Labor Khaled Al-Bakkar stated that a graduate from the Vocational Training Corporation or the Advanced Vocational Training College will benefit from a training course that lasts for one or two years and is equivalent to an industrial diploma aimed at qualifying them for the labor market and its requirements.
Al-Bakkar added, in a statement on "Al-Mamlaka" Monday evening, that 138 programs taught by the Vocational Training Corporation are in line with the requirements of the Jordanian labor market, stressing the necessity to qualify the youth so that their skills match the requirements of the local labor market and the developments of the global labor market.
He indicated that one year is the minimum duration for training youth within the Vocational Training Corporation, noting that vocational training opens up new prospects for youth in various job opportunities, and that the new global trend confirms that skills are more important than degrees.
He noted that the global economy will lose 330 million jobs and create 170 million new opportunities, which necessitates keeping up with the skills required in the global labor market.
Al-Bakkar revealed that the Jordanian labor market, both public and private sectors, created 95,000 job opportunities last year, while 96,000 people joined social security for the first time since the beginning of this current year, 2025.
He pointed out that most workers in the jewelry sector in Jordan are foreign laborers, due to the lack of training of Jordanian labor for this sector despite the availability of good salaries.
He explained that the informal sector includes approximately 1.6 million job opportunities occupied by Jordanians and non-Jordanians.
