Khaberni - Egyptian artist Sumaya El Khashab revealed her desire to produce an artistic work that highlights children's rights and their safety, along with her call to amend some laws related to them.
Sumaya El Khashab clarified the details of the artistic work she looks forward to presenting in the coming period, emphasizing her desire to address the issue of children and the importance of their feeling safe at school and within their families.
This came during her statements on the sidelines of her honoring at the Arab Excellence and Creativity Symposium, where she said: "I wish to discuss an artistic work that deals with children's issues, especially regarding their feeling of safety in their school and among their family."
El Khashab added, saying: "I appeal to the relevant authorities to amend the law, and a boy who is called a child while he is 18 years old, how? He is no longer a child."
In another context, Sumaya faced a wide wave of criticism on social media after a series of tweets she posted on her official account on the platform "X", which discussed some practices associated with superstitions, magic, and envy in rural areas, along with another tweet of a sarcastic nature about followers' problems.
She said in one of her tweets: "I hear about the strangest things in the countryside, these people are very evil," and added: "Magic and envy, and the one who gives birth to a son, they cast spells on her son, and the one who buys something, they pray it goes away from him, I am sorry, but I hate discussing with this category."
These tweets sparked a wide reaction, as a number of followers directed harsh criticism, among them one said: "When you come down to us, cover yourself, and nobody will do anything to you again, they really mess with you in the countryside, right?" while another wrote: "Before you talk about the countryside, look at the things you yourself have presented that initially made people stop taking your words seriously, I am a son of the countryside and I tell you there is neither magic nor envy to the extent you talk about. What you call it happens in any country in the world. It is inappropriate to disparage many people just because you are ignorant."
