Khaberni - The world's wealthiest man, American billionaire Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, revealed that the reason for choosing the middle name "Sikhar" for his son with his wife Shivon Zilis, is in honor of the Indian physicist and Nobel Prize winner, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.
Elon Musk referred to Chandrasekhar as Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, a prominent Indian-American physicist born in 1910 and deceased in 1995.
This was disclosed during Musk's interview on the People by WTF podcast with Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, where he spoke about his wife's background and her Indian family origins.
In the podcast, Musk mentioned that Shivon Zilis is half Indian, saying: "My wife Shivon is half Indian. One of my sons from her, his middle name is Sikhar, after Chandrasekhar."
He added that the name was chosen in honor of the renowned physicist who contributed to our understanding of stars and the applications of space mechanics, according to firstpost.
Shivon Zilis, 38 years old, is the director of operations and special projects at Neuralink, a company specializing in neural technologies, which Musk co-founded.
Zilis was born in Markham, Ontario, to a mother from Punjab and a Canadian father, and grew up in Canada before studying Economics and Philosophy at Yale University.
She began her career at IBM, and then moved to Bloomberg Beta, where she led investments in the areas of data and machine learning, which earned her a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2015.
Later, Zilis worked in the field of artificial intelligence, and joined OpenAI in 2016, an organization Musk co-founded, and was the youngest member on its board until her resignation in 2023.
She also worked between 2017 and 2019 at Tesla, where she led projects on developing autonomous driving systems and designing electronic chips.
Musk clarified that Zilis's connection to India is through heritage and not upbringing, pointing out that her mother is of Indian origin while she was raised in Canada after being adopted in childhood.
Zilis and Musk had twins in November 2021 in Austin, Texas, which were officially announced eight months later in court.
They also have two other children, Arcadia and Seldon Licurgus, and Musk is known to be a father to at least fourteen children from several wives, including his former wife Justine Wilson with whom he had six children, and the singer Grimes with whom he had three children, in addition to his thirteenth child with American influencer Ashley St. Claire.
Regarding the name, Zilis said: "We call him Sikhar for short, but the name was chosen in honor of our children's heritage and the amazing scientist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar."
With this step, Musk once again shows his interest in science and engineering, reflecting his respect for the cultural origins of his wife and her family, emphasizing the combination of appreciation for science and personal heritage in choosing his children's names.
