Khaberni - Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital in Saudi Arabia succeeded in saving the life of a "63" year-old patient who suffered from an extremely rare type of gangrene known as Fournier Gangrene in the scrotal area, causing a set of severe symptoms and complications, necessitating immediate emergency room treatment. A medical team led by the Jordanian doctor Abdullah Al-Rabab'a, a urology surgery consultant, and Dr. Sarya Al-Jasani, an emergency consultant, performed a complex and successful operation.

The patient arrived at the emergency department in a critical health condition suffering from severe pain, high fever, very low blood pressure due to septicemia, acute renal failure, increased liver enzymes, and changes in coloration of the scrotal area, along with some discharges and openings in the skin at the genitals, which allowed bacteria to enter and caused muscle rupture and gas formation in the scrotal area, confirming he was affected by this dangerous and rare type of gangrene. The mortality rate can reach "40%", which increases with patients suffering from chronic diseases.

The medical team discussed the case and concluded that there was a need for surgical intervention. After stabilizing the blood pressure and temperature with medication, an emergency surgical operation was performed, where the dead tissue in the scrotum was removed until reaching viable tissue, and a urinary catheter was installed to maintain the urination process without any leaks. The area affected by the gangrene was meticulously cleaned, preserving as much of the viable and vital tissue in the area, especially the testicles.

The surgical intervention continued for an hour and a half and went smoothly. Thanks to the efforts of the medical team and by the grace of God, the operation was completely successful. The patient was transferred with stable vital signs to the intensive care unit to treat the wound after the gangrene excision, using special therapeutic techniques and medications. His health improved significantly with dedicated medical care, and he left the hospital "10" days after the surgery.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital in Al-Kharj operates with an integrated digital system, utilizing communication technologies, artificial intelligence, and smart health systems, which help in enhancing the quality of services.
