Khaberni - The case of Moroccan influencer Sakina Benjelloun, known as the owner of "the most expensive divorce in Morocco", has witnessed new developments following the announcement by her former husband, engineer Mehdi Qabaj, of his dropping the legal complaint he had previously filed against her on charges of defamation, leading to her arrest just days ago.
Qabaj confirmed that his renouncement came with clear guarantees aimed at maintaining mutual respect, preserving the psychological security of the children, and preventing any potential harm to the reputation of either party, emphasizing that he did not seek any financial compensation despite his legal right to do so, because family stability and the children's welfare take precedence over any financial or legal considerations.
In an official statement, he explained that his decision to renounce came after facing defamation campaigns targeting his reputation and family life, but he preferred de-escalation and ethical responsibility over legal escalation.
These developments come after the Moroccan authorities arrested Benjelloun following her broadcast of videos and recordings on social media platforms discussing her disputes with her ex-husband, which prompted him to file an official complaint that ultimately led to her arrest.
Sakina Benjelloun had previously gained significant fame on social media after obtaining a favorable court ruling commanding the payment of 720,000 dirhams covering alimony and housing expenses, which earned her the title "the owner of the most expensive divorce in Morocco," before her digital activity regarding her personal life led to legal action by her ex-husband.
