Khaberni - Husam Badran, a member of the political bureau of Hamas, said that any international force that might be deployed in the Gaza Strip must have its mission exclusively to monitor the ceasefire and separate the Palestinian civilians from the occupation forces.

Badran emphasized directly that transforming these forces into an alternative to the occupation or a tool for fighting the Palestinians "is not feasible and will complicate the situation further."

Badran said that the Palestinian factions, including the Fatah movement, presented a united stance in Cairo regarding the international forces, affirming that the Palestinian position is based on protecting civilians and stopping the aggression, and not legitimizing any new foreign military presence.

He noted that reaching the agreement came "after the world had grown weary of the occupation's behavior, including the support from the American administration."
