Khaberni - The head of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee, Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, discussed with the financial committee in the House of Representatives the budget of the municipality for the next year, confirming that the municipality has put in place a strategic plan to pay off its debt over ten years, focusing on avoiding new loans and benefiting from investment projects and partnerships with the private sector.

Al-Shawarbeh clarified that the value of the assets currently developed had been raised from 150 million dinars to 514 million dinars, which has contributed to improving the municipality's credit situation.

He added that next year will witness the operation of the transport route between Amman and As-Salt, as a step towards developing public transport.

Al-Shawarbeh also mentioned the launching of a tender for waste management within Amman’s boundaries, where the responsibility for waste collection will transition to the View Amman company at the beginning of next year.

In the context of incentives for citizens, he explained that there are exemptions and discounts of up to 75%, in addition to installment plans for all taxes and fees, aimed at enabling citizens to rectify their statuses and obtain work permits.

Regarding investment opportunities, Al-Shawarbeh pointed out that the Amman slaughterhouse project will be offered as an investment opportunity at the beginning of 2027, while the Amman Central Market is currently being studied to be offered as an investment opportunity as well.

In terms of the development of the municipality, Al-Shawarbeh confirmed that the municipality is working on a continuous administrative streamlining plan, with a focus on improving the efficiency of the financial team to meet increasing responsibilities.

He also mentioned that all municipality services have been completely digitized to facilitate procedures and provide faster and more efficient services to citizens.
