The Cabinet Approves the Regulation of Operational Mechanisms for the Personal Data Protection Unit 2025

Khaberni - The Cabinet approved in its session held on Sunday, chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, a system for regulating the mechanisms and procedures for the operation of the Personal Data Protection Unit for the year 2025.

The approval of the system is pursuant to the Personal Data Protection Law No. (24) for the year 2023, and as a pivotal executive step to establish the practical framework for the implementation of the law, and to ensure the protection of individual privacy and enhance trust in the digital environment in the kingdom.

The system sets out detailed mechanisms for regulating the operations of the Personal Data Protection Unit, as the technical and regulatory body responsible for monitoring compliance with the law, and specifies clear and defined procedures for receiving comments and reports and investigating them, ensuring the protection of individual rights, and enhancing transparency and accountability among entities processing data, whether governmental or private.

The system includes a set of provisions that define the foundations of operation for the Personal Data Protection Unit and its mechanisms for executing its tasks, ensuring adherence to standards of neutrality and objectivity, maintaining the confidentiality of information accessed during investigation or supervision procedures, and not disclosing it except in accordance with the provisions of the law.
