Khaberni - The Egyptian Ministry of Health decided to withdraw 8 types of mineral water circulating in the markets across several governorates due to them not having licenses and the absence of accredited data for their sources.

The announcement of the decision comes amidst a significant stir caused by a food content creator who published a video claiming to analyze samples of various types of mineral water circulating in the Egyptian market, revealing that some were contaminated and did not meet specifications, which caused widespread concern before the Ministry of Health moved to deny these results and confirmed they did not follow the scientific approach.

According to the new decision, the Supreme Water Committee at the Egyptian Ministry of Health directed the withdrawal of the eight types after it was proven that the producing companies did not obtain the official approvals from the committee, and some of them are of unknown source and without accredited data.

The list includes products packaged from deep groundwater wells without an address or unlicensed facilities, alongside companies that did not fulfill the requirements for obtaining licenses to market bottled water in the local market.

The committee observed these products being circulated in different governorates such as Gharbia, Dakahlia, and Qalyubia, despite not having the technical approvals required for matching the health standards of water wells and the accreditation of operational and packaging data.

The committee directed the intensification of inspection campaigns to ensure that unlicensed products are not circulated in the markets and to take legal actions against the non-compliant facilities.
