Khaberni - Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, officially requested a pardon from the Israeli President, as announced by Israeli Channel 15, and the President’s office forwarded the request to the legal affairs department for consideration.
Netanyahu confirmed in his statements that the investigations in his case began 10 years ago, while his trials started 6 years ago, considering that their continuation could last for additional years.
Netanyahu indicated that it was in his interest to continue the judicial proceedings to obtain acquittal, but he added that matters of security and politics required other steps, explaining that ending the trial could help reduce disputes and achieve broad reconciliation.
Netanyahu clarified that former US President Donald Trump asked him to end the trial immediately, so that they could move forward towards achieving significant mutual interests between Israel and the United States.
