Khaberni - Today, Sunday, the Israeli military expressed its concern over what it described as the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) leaking sensitive military and intelligence information to Hezbollah, according to a senior military official.
The official stated that "UNIFIL is considered a destabilizing force" and does not contribute to the disarmament of Hezbollah, noting that its presence restricts the freedom of operation of the Israeli military and raises concerns about the potential leak of images of military activities to Hezbollah.
He emphasized that the sooner UNIFIL leaves the area and ends its activities, the better.
This Israeli concern comes after Channel 13 of Israel earlier revealed that the military presented a plan to the political level to expand operations against Hezbollah with the expiration of the US administration's deadline.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that Israel informed the Lebanese government through the US administration in recent days that if it does not act against Hezbollah and disarm it, Israel will expand its attacks.
Refusal of Guardianship
For its part, Hezbollah emphasized Lebanon's right to reject any foreign intervention seeking to impose guardianship over the country, or to restrict the powers of the constitutional authorities.
In a message addressed to the Pope visiting Lebanon today, the party declared its commitment to communal living, consensual democracy, and the pursuit of maintaining domestic security and stability.
The published message yesterday, Saturday, on the party's social media platforms stated, "We in Hezbollah take advantage of your auspicious visit to our country, Lebanon.. to affirm our commitment to our joint living."
Hezbollah affirmed its "commitment to stand with our army and our people to confront any aggression or occupation of our land and country," considering what Israel is doing in Lebanon as "an ongoing aggression that is unacceptable and condemned."
Hezbollah concluded its message by saying, "We rely on Your Holiness's positions in rejecting the injustice and aggression that our country Lebanon is subjected to by the invading Zionists and their supporters."
Hezbollah's Secretary-General Naim Qasim welcomed the Pope's visit to Lebanon, saying that he had assigned members of the party to deliver a message to the Pontiff.
It should be noted that the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on November 27, 2024, was supposed to end the war between Hezbollah and Israel, but the latter continued to carry out regular strikes within Lebanon, targeting sites and elements of the party, and kept its forces in 5 locations it considers strategic points in the south and began fortifying them.
Amid significant US pressure and fears of expanding Israeli attacks, the Lebanese government pledged to proceed with a plan to disarm Hezbollah, a step the latter has declared its refusal.
