Khaberni - The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Islamic Sanctities confirmed that the brawl discussed by some news websites and social media platforms occurred around the Mosque of Hudhaifa ibn al-Yaman in Jerash city and not inside it, and it did not involve the Imam and the muezzin.
The ministry explained that the incident started due to a dispute between children from both sides and later evolved into a dispute between the families outside the mosque. It also noted that the muezzin was not in the country when the incident occurred, as he was on his way back from performing Umrah.
The ministry stated that it is following the matter, has taken the necessary administrative measures according to the regulations and instructions, and emphasized the importance of obtaining information from its official sources to maintain the dignity of the houses of God and their image in society.
