Khaberni - The Chinese authorities have announced a recall of BYD involving more than 88,000 chargeable hybrid vehicles of the Qin PLUS DM-i model, which were produced between January 2021 and September 2023, due to potential risks related to battery safety.

According to Reuters, the Chinese regulator in an official notice issued on Friday explained that these vehicles might suffer from weak propulsion power due to inconsistencies in battery packs during the production process, which could lead, in extreme cases, to a loss of the ability to drive entirely in electric mode.

This decision comes just weeks after the company's largest recall campaign to date, at a time when BYD is experiencing a significant decline in sales and profits.

This year, the company has recalled more than 210,000 vehicles, including about 7,000 hybrid SUVs, and in mid-October, it launched its largest-ever recall campaign involving more than 115,000 vehicles of the Tang and Yuan Pro models produced between 2015 and 2022, due to design flaws and battery issues.
